Tips for good photos

For house portraits:

  • At least one photo should be taken of the front of the building, from an angle away from the garage, so it is not the predominant feature.  If possible, include a small view of the side.
  • Close-up photos are very helpful. If possible, take photos of the front door, windows, any special features of the building, especially if hidden by bushes or trees.
  • Avoid having the front of the building in deep shadow. Cloudy days are fine if there is enough light.
  • Utility lines, cars, and people will be removed from the photos unless you request otherwise.
  • The building(s) on either side of your building will not be included, unless you request otherwise.

For pet portraits:

  • Make sure photos are as clear as possible.
  • Ideally, at least one photo should be of the pet in the pose you would like to have drawn, though it is possible to use several photos to create one portrait in the desired pose.
  • Close-up photos are very helpful - especially of the eyes.

When your artwork has been completed, a scanned image will be emailed or a clear photocopy mailed to you for your approval. Once approved you then mail the remaining 1/2 of the payment to Carol and your custom artwork will be shipped to you.

How long does it take?
Portraits normally take about 3-4 weeks. If you need a faster turnaround, please contact Carol to discuss your specific requirements.
